Policy and Procedure

Pinehirst Education is committed to the principles of sustainability and to reducing the adverse impact of its activities on the environment. The aim of this policy is to seek sustainable solutions in managing the impact of Pinehirst Education activities by adopting sound principles and implementing good practice. This policy is applicable to all students, staff, Board of Directors partners, visitors, our advocates at Pinehirst Education.

 Pinehirst Education recognises its responsibility to: ∙


Develop sustainability awareness in all students, staff, corporation partners, visitors, and our advocates at Pinehirst Education by:

  • Integrating sustainability into Pinehirsts strategies, policies, processes, and operations.

  • Embedding the principles of sustainability within Pinehirst’s education, training and functioning, activities.

  • Ensuring that its practices comply with and, where appropriate, exceed minimum legal requirements for reducing adverse environmental impact.

  • Working with relevant external authorities and organisations to keep up to date with the latest developments and share best practice.


Pinehirst Education is committed to being guided by the following principles:

The practice of responsible energy utilisation and management through the encouragement of energy efficiency throughout its campuses.

The protection, conservation, and enhancement of the natural and cultural heritage of its campuses.

The creation of a high quality working and learning environment through the discouragement of litter, graffiti, noise, and light pollution.

The promotion and encouragement of practical measures to reduce the impact of travel to, from and between college sites.

The choice of products, suppliers and contractors which minimise negative social and environmental impacts subject to necessary budgetary constraints.

The minimisation of wastes by reduced consumption and the development of effective wastes management and recycling Process, (“Reduce, Re-use, Recycle”)

The incorporation (where practical) of the principles of sustainable development into new and existing buildings via energy and water saving devices.

The continued monitoring of sustainability performance and practices by the use of appropriate indicators and targets and reporting of progress.

The recognition of the potential impact of electronic learning and communication with particular attention to reduce use of paper.

The development of an accredited Environmental Management System.

All Pinehirst Education Policies are subject to annual review & screening for Equality Impact Assessment and new or changing legislation.

Equality Impact Assessments are carried out to see whether the policy has, or is likely to have, a negative impact on grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, marriage or civil partnership, sex, or sexual orientation.

Pinehirst Education not only fulfils its legal position in relation to current and future equality legislation, but additionally goes beyond compliance in providing and promoting “Opportunities for all to succeed”, free from any aspect of discrimination, harassment, or victimisation.

All staff have a duty of care to look after the interests of and support their colleagues. This policy takes account of our commitment to eliminating discrimination, identifying, and removing barriers

and providing equal opportunities for our learners, staff, and visitors to ensure that no one feels excluded or disadvantaged.

Safeguarding, Learner Protection and Prevent

All staff have a responsibility to support and promote Pinehirst Education commitment to providing a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. Additionally, all staff have a responsibility to report any safeguarding or Prevent issues to the Designated Senior Lead for Safeguarding and Prevent.
